Deaf Awareness

A training session on deaf awareness and working with deaf people, at Fife Sensory Impairment Centre in Kirkcaldy on Monday 20 August, was attended by Artist-in-Residence Jeanette Sendler and FAC members Sara Craig, Tracey McConnell-Wood, Alison Mountain and Moyra Stewart.

This was followed on Monday 15th October by a Family Felt Workshop led by Jeanette.  A total of 14 participants turned up - eight deaf children/young adults and their mums plus one two-week old baby, Jeanette's youngest workshop attendee to date! Two of the children used BSL, and one of them had additional needs, so a signer sat with them throughout, while another signer worked mostly with the young adults.
